Turning a Shed into Basshogg HQ!

With the excavation and move completed, it’s time to get the finishing work underway to turn this shed into a HQ! A deck will be added to the front, the inside will be finished in pine, a bar will be built. Once the fridge and dartboard arrive it’ll be time to party!

Moving a Large Shed by Hand!!

Our previous excavation was the initial part of this plan to move the shed. The shed is large, 18 feet long by 8 wide. My primary tools were a farm jack, a come along, aircraft cable and cedar logs. The shed was originally placed close to the house. This was convenient, but felt claustrophobic. With the north side of the property levelled out, I had the perfect spot for the shed. The problem was that the area was too narrow to use equipment to move it.

Cutting Trees!

The plan was simple, cut trees! Before fishing season starts we’re in a rush to get the work done. A bunch of trees had to come down to get ready for some excavation happening soon. There was also a beast of a red pine slowly rotting that had to come down. Even though there’s snow on the ground, the weather was perfect for this annual event.

Digging Dirt!

Digging Dirt at the cottage! this weekend we moved over 600 yards of earth out of a hill to a new location. This operation yielded us over 3000 Square feet of new flat space that can be used. Keeping the excavator and the skid steer going 10 hours a day was more fun than work. It’s important to get these jobs done before fishing season starts!
