Don’t bring this guy fishing! If you’re planning a fishing trip with your friends, you might want to think twice before inviting that one guy. We all know that one guy that has been known to be a terrible fisherman. He can turn a great day on the lake into a frustrating experience.
The Guy that uses all of your Good Bait
He never brings enough bait or the right bait. “Can I borrow a lure?” Sure, help yourself… By the end of the day he’s been helping himself to your tackle box and you’re down a hundred bucks. Why? Probably because his knots are bad and he’s losing a hook every third cast. Better yet, launching them at the shoreline and getting snagged in trees, or other structure. Which leads us to..
Always Snagged on Something Guy
No-one could possibly get their lure stuck 30 feet up a tree along the shore. “Hold my beer”. Fishing some rocky shoreline? Let me put on the heaviest lure you have so it can instantly snagged in the rocks. Finally caught yourself a bass? Of course I’ll help you because you somehow snagged it though the worst part of it’s jaw. Got that hook stuck in the Bimini while casting? sure I’ll stop fishing again so I can help you get that out.. Maybe I should just put my gear away, have a beer and play guide for the day.
Don't Bring The Drinks all of your Beer Guy
That guy never brings his own beverages but guess what, he’s a freaking magician. He can make any cooler of beer disappear right before your very eyes. This only makes the entire experience more intolerable. Any angling skills that he may have had get worse and worse as the day goes on. And now you can’t even drown your sorrows. The cherry on top? The empties are stuffed into your live wells for you to find at the end of the day or the next time you go out. You may be tempted to hammer the throttle when he’s taking a leak off the back of the boat.
At the end of the day, even will all of the hassles, a day on the lake can’t be beat. While it’s not always ideal to have someone with you who may be irritating or challenging to be around, it’s important to focus on the positive aspects of the experience and make the most of it. Perhaps you were able to catch some fish, enjoy the scenery, or have some interesting conversations or experiences that made the day worthwhile. It’s all about finding the silver lining and making the best of any situation. Or, drop him at the dock to grab more beer and take off before he gets back! Best practice for next time: Don’t bring that guy!
